Daisy seems to want to take up crafting too. When Mommy started a new counted-cross stitch picture recently, Daisy was desperate to help, but Daddy said since she didn't have thumbs, she wouldn't be able to do it.

What we saw on our walk today

Miss Khyra is justifiably proud of her curly tail, but it was so windy on our walk today that Tucker did a good imitation of it.

Mommy took us on our favorite long walk today for the first time in a long time, so we had to smell everything to see who had been by, and what was going on in our world.

It is the end of maple sap gathering time, so we saw lots of sap collection buckets. There were the old-fashioned kind:
A combination of old and new:
Checking out the latest way to collect sap.
Mommy, can we have pancakes with maple syrup?

Birthday Thanks

When Mommy got home from work on my birthday, she had a beautiful package with my name on it. She said is was from our friend Cathy, who works with her.

Look, Leo is trying to horn in on my birthday stuff again.

I was so excited I couldn't eve stay still, I had to open it.

There was a cute card with it. The cat looks sort of like Leo, but I don't think he would wear that hat.Look I got 2 bags of yummy treats.

I wanted to start eating them right away, but Mommy said I had to pose for pictures first.

I need to get this one on film and send it to Gus and Waldo.
Thank you Cathy for the yummy treats, and also to Mason Dixie for the special biscuits that came last week. Daisy and I are enjoying them all. We need to go shopping with Mommy and make her buy those kind, they are a lot more fun than our usual Milk Bones.

What we saw on our walk today

It was a very nice day today, so Mommy took us for a walk when she got home from work. We don't understand why she has to go to work when she could hang around with us all day, but she says someone has to earn the kibble money.

When we got to the top of the hill, Mommy insisted that we had to sit for a minute while she put her hat on. We don't see why she doesn't want the wind in her ears, isn't that the best feeling ever?

When we were going home, all these cows came running up to us.

Isn't this one cute?
This one wanted to check out Daisy.

Daisy says "I think I will stay safely over here. She is big!!!!!!"

When we started for home, they wanted to come with us.

We better get going, or they will want to go home with us.
We have enough others to share Mommy with, we don't need a cow too.

Early birthday present from Mason Dixie

Tucker says:

It's not my birthday until next Wednesday, but when Mommy got home from work today she had a package addressed to me and Daisy. She said it was probably for my birthday, and wanted me to wait til then, but I said I had never got mail addressed to me, and we wanted to open it now.

Look, even Leo wanted to get into the act, and his name wasn't even on it.

Here we are with the package. Look, Daisy has to have her bone at all times.
Mommy says because it is my birthday (and Daisy couldn't be trusted not to grab the package and run) I could show you what I got.

Isn't it pretty? And they are colored for St. Patrick's Day, which was almost my birthday. I even have a sister named Shamrock.

Mmmm, these smell yummy.

Can I get these open?

This is my best trick.

Doesn't it look good?

The biscuits are yummy, peanut butter. Thank you Mason Dixie. It is so nice of you. And I did share one with Daisy, but she gulped it down before Mommy got a picture. Mommy says we have to save the rest for my birthday next week.

An Award for us

Our friends the Bumpass Hounds http://bumpasshounds.blogspot.com/ gave us this award.

When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real. Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends. Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Weblog”. Well, there’s no prize, but the recepients can keep the nifty icon shown down below. So we have to list at least ten honest things about ourselves and then, pass it on!"
Since there are three of us, we are going to each post 3 things, and one group item.
1. Tucker does not choose to bark. He can, but mostly he doesn't, except when something really interesting, like a deer or a horse walks through the yard. He is a real Silent Cal.
2. Daisy doesn't bark much either, but she is far from silent. She warbles and chortles, and sings about her toys, and her Daddy says she sounds like Chewbacca. See our Goofy Daisy post for an example if you haven't already.
3. Leo is a major Mommy's boy. One of the reasons he is a Golden wannabe is that when Mommy leaves the room, he has to follow her like a puppy dog.
4. Tucker is the best dog ever. He lives to be a good boy, he practically housebroke himself, you can do anything you want to him and he is always the perfect gentleman.
5. Daisy is a free spirit. She marches to the beat of her own drummer.
6. Leo has lots of cat toys, but his favorite thing in the whole world is the plastic piece that holds the cap on the milk jug.
7. Tucker is the only member of the family who can do any tricks. He can shake hands and can balance a biscuit on his nose until told to get it, drooling buckets if you leave him waiting too long.
8. Daisy loves her toys. Every time she gets a new one, it's the best thing she ever got, until she gets a new one, and then that one is the best. She would like to have stuffies, but Tucker surgically removes the squeakers, so she can't have them.
9. Leo is Mommy's assistant for all things crafty. He helps with crochet, cross-stitching and quilting, even when Mommy doesn't think she needs help.
10. The three of them love each other, though as with all siblings, they have their moments. One second Leo is rubbing on the dogs, the next he is hissing at them, but they all enjoy hanging out together.
So many of our friends have already gotten this award that we are not going to give it to anyone specific, but invite anyone who hasn't played along to have some fun with it.
