He lost a tough battle with the evil cancer monster and has joined his brother The Luke at the Rainbow Bridge.

My name is Daisy. My mommy says I am the cutest dog in the whole world. She may be a little bit biased, but I am pretty darned cute.

I was a cute puppy.

I am cute in the snow.

I am cute cuddled up in my blanket.

And cute when I carry it around.

I am very cute with my toys.

New Years trip

We went home to the farm were we were born to visit for New Years. There were 7 Golden Retrievers there, but silly Mommy didn't get a picture of all of us together, so you will have to settle for us.

The weather was very nice, so we went for nice walks every day.

Every day we saw this big fellow. He seemed friendly, but Mommy wouldn't let us get too close.

Okay, get ready for your Moms to Squeeee. This is our niece Star. She is the newest Golden at

Ox Kill Farm. She is 4 months old and this is the first time we have met her. Her mom Sera is our sister.

We were worried Mommy would want to bring her home, luckily we left her there.

Mommy has been neglecting our blog, and we haven't figured out how to type, but we finally got her to help us. We went to New York at the end of July for our annual family reunion, but Mom and Dad didn't take a lot of pictures this year, here are a few.

It was a beautiful day on the farm the day of the party.
We met this huge fellow, he was very sweet. We think his name was Hercules.
This handsome fellow who looks like Miss Khyra was named Yukon.
This is a whole bunch of our relatives. The outdoor kitchen in the background used to be a horse trailer.
Leo stayed home and held down the couch while we were gone.
After we got home, we saw this fellow one morning on our walk.
There are also a couple of new cows in the neighborhood.

We will finish up with a few shots of Daisy in the back yard.

Hopefully Mommy will not neglect our blog any more.

The patient, looking a little sad, but feeling better this morning.Most of this post will be from Mom today, a bit of a feeling guilty ramble. Daisy is five, and was never spayed because we thought about breeding her. She is a very well bred dog, and so pretty, we thought it might be nice to have a litter or two of puppies. Then the economy tanked, and after meeting so many people with blogs who worked in rescue, I decided that I could not in good conscience bring any more puppies into the world. But life happened, and I hadn't gotten to getting her spayed, but now as she was five, I was thinking I really needed to do it. I knew there was a danger of Pyometra (info here) but I thought is was more for older dogs. Recently Daisy hasn't been quite herself, but it was little things and I thought maybe she was finally settling down a little as she was getting older. Nothing I could take to the vet and say she is suffering from _______ Monday her eyes were not right, all squinty. Of course I rushed her to the vet for that. Some detective work by our very good vet came up the the Pyometra diagnosis. An immediate spay was called for, but being a true Golden, Daisy had eaten her breakfast, even though she didn't feel great, so it had to wait until yesterday, but it was an emergency because she could get septic at any point. Luckily, she came through the surgery well and is on the mend. I guess the take-away from this for me is even when you think you are a responsible owner, anything can happen, and you really know your dog best, if you think something is not right, trust your instincts. Thank you to everyone for your kind words, I am sure all those good thoughts helped her to come through surgery with no complications. We sure do appreciate all our blog friends.

Last week Mommy went off and left us all alone (well, maybe home with Dad).

She went to Kentucky. We love Kentucky. We don't know why she didn't take us.

Mom saw this cool looking old house foundation on her walks.

She went to the Kentucky Horse Park with her best friend Viv and Viv's daughter Susan.

Then we were really jealous because we found out that mom got to meet the beautiful Miss Khyra and Khyra's mom.

Mom even had her picture taken with Khyra.Khyra sweetly sent us some yummy biscuits. Thanks for taking good care of our Mom for us, Khyra.

On a sad note, our friend Bambi has crossed the Rainbow bridge. If you haven't already, can you pop over to her mom Fern's blog and give Fern some of the power of the paw, she is very sad.

Tucker posting today. Mommy said I smelled bad (I disagreed), so she took me here. They have a dog wash. We don't have a human bathtub, so Mom says it's hard to give us a bath at home.She made me climb up in this thing, and gave me a bath. Sorry no wet picture, she was all alone so had to take pictures and give a bath.
Then she made me sit on this little table and dried my furs.
It was horrible, but now mom says I get more hugs because I am clean and fluffy and smell nice. I guess it's worth it. Daisy was laughing, but Mom says she's next.

Mommy tried to take us for a walk in the snow, but it was so deep, she couldn't walk. So we played around the barn for a while.

The beautiful Miss Sugar had a contest a couple of weeks back to win a fun bumper sticker and we won. It came the other day. Mommy says she will put it on our car as soon as she can get a clean spot to put it in.

We met some new friends, Nugget and Oscar, over at Life is like a box of Nuggets and they gave us this Stylish Blogger award.

We are supposed to tell you 7 things about us, so we will tell some things about us and some about Mommy:

1. Tucker is Daisy's uncle. Daisy is a puppy from Tucker's sister Shamie's first litter.

2. Mommy is a librarian and loves to read. Sometimes we wish she would stop reading and play with us.

3. Daisy has a formal name: Ox Kill Shamrock's Lucky Daisy. Tucker is just Tucker (but we love him anyway.)

4.Leo thinks he should run the whole world.

5. Mommy loves to quilt and spends a lot of time sewing. Sometimes we wish she would stop sewing and take us for a walk.

6. Tucker loves to go for rides in the car.

7. Mommy loves the Boston Celtics. We wish she would stop watching the game and blogging and feed us.

Hi, Tucker here today to enter my sister Daisy in the Mango Minster Bad Sport Category. Sure, she may look all cute and innocent, but I know the truth. She hogs everything.
Like this one, every toy is hers.
This was my bed, until the little monster came along, and insisted she should lay in it too.
And if not in the bed, next to it with all the blankets.
Or using the cat to help her guard all the toys and blankets.
This toy was from Augie and Ti for my birthday.
But pretty soon, guess who had it. You can read all about it here.
And finally, when our friend Farley sent us some new stuffies (read about it here) she completed her plan for world domination and managed to get them both at once.
I think these examples, just a few of many, qualify her as one of the worst sports of all times.

Well, not really but on Friday mom went to the Equine Affaire all day and left us all alone. She didn't get home until after midnight. (Well maybe not all alone, Dad was home a lot of the day, and we love him, but really.)

And we did get new bandannas, thanks to our human grandma for getting one so we could have matching ones.

We went for a nice early morning walk. The trees are starting to change color. They are early this year because we had a hot dry summer.
Remember Daisy's friend from our Staycation a couple of weeks ago? She came up to the fence line to say hi this morning.
Here we are, home and happy.
P.S. Yesterday we were sitting on the trail behind our house waiting for Mommy to stop looking in the grape vines for grapes to make jelly with and take us for the rest of our walk.

Our Staycation

Tucker the Great Dane is hosting a Staycation contest, so we thought we would enter. Follow the link above to see the details.

We stayed very close to home and walked to the local Wildlife Management Area. We have walked around on the roads, but never went in before.

It was an absolutely beautiful day in Massachusetts
The birds were having a great time enjoying the wind to float around.
This is the hill heading up into the section of the Management area we explored.
That led to this set of paths through the meadow.
Looking back, you could see the hills. Mommy had fun with the panorama function on her camera.
It was cool and breezy today, but after all that walking, we needed a bit of a rest.
And a water break.
We headed out into the woods.
We got a bit lost, but no worries. Mommy has a good sense of direction, and then we found a stone wall to follow. Practical New England farmers don't build walls unless there is somewhere for them to go, so we followed it back to the road.
On the way, there was much interesting pee-mail to read.
When we got back to the road, we walked on home. On the way, Daisy made a new friend.
Isn't she a cutie?

Our Summer Vacation

Hi Friends. We went to New York last week for our annual summer vacation and family reunion.

Here is Daisy ready for a fun day.
Our sister Sera had puppies 8 weeks ago. They loved seeing so many people.
Tucker is not sure about his niece or nephew. He just hopes we aren't taking one home. (Not this time.)
After all the attention, the puppies are worn out.
This is our Uncle Elvis. He is 14 and Tucker's mother's brother.
We went for a swim with a new friend.
Daisy loves to swim.
This little girl was trying to teach this puppy to shake. We are not sure he got the concept.
This is Fred, Daisy's littermate. He's a very handsome fellow.
This is Woody, another relative.
This is our Aunt Tasha.
We saw lots of horses this weekend. This is Metheringham Upton Isaac, one of the stallions at Ox Kill Farm.
Mommy got to drive the team, Lara and Korry.
Someone made these cool Golden Retriever cookies. Mommy said they were yummy but no one would share them with dogs.
Mommy used to own this horse, her name is Polly. Mommy always goes to visit her when we go to New York. Polly is 29 now, very old for a big horse.She looks great for an old girl. Mommy says she is too stubborn to die.
On Tuesday, Mommy and Daddy went to a horse show with the Ox Kill crew. Here they are ready to go into the show ring.
We had so much fun on our vacation, as always. We love to go home to the farm.

We are big fans of Nutro Crunch Berry flavored treats. Big thanks to the Luke and the Bleu for introducing us to them. Thanks too to our human grandma for sending us a bag last week.

This morning mom and dad went out in the yard for a couple of hours (without us, how dare they!) and came back with this basket.

Mommy said these are what they use to make yummy berry treats. We got to have a few and they were pretty good.

Mommy saw this cartoon in the paper today and we think it is pretty funny (and true!)

Mommy went off to the Vermont Quilt Festival yesterday and left us home with Daddy. She said she did think of us, especially when she saw these two quilts.

Jake, by Susan Cane of Canaan, CT. This one was incredible, 7,200 individual pieces of fabric in 90 different colors.

At least today, Mommy redeemed herself by taking us for a walk, and then had us pose with the rose bush.

Our trip to Kentucky

Our Mommy wanted to go and visit her best friend Viv in Kentucky, and we got to come along. We took 2 days to drive there and spent the first night at the Econolodge in Hagerstown, MD. They were very nice there and dog friendly, if you ever need a place to stay in that area.

We went on lots of nice walks while we were there, and saw this barn while we were walking.

It was time to make hay, so we saw lots of hay bales.

One day Daisy thought she won the doggy lottery. This bird dropped out of a tree right in front of us. Mean Mommy wouldn't let her grab it, but made us wait while she took a picture.

These horses were out playing every morning when we were out for our walk.

Mommy got to go to a farm and spend some time with the baby horses, but we had to stay home.

We had a great vacation, and loved Kentucky. Isn't it pretty?
Can't wait to get to everyone's blog and catch up with our friends.

When Mommy got home from work yesterday, there was a box from Miss Daisy from our good friends Augie and Ti.

Look, a birthday present and a nice card. The present is another cool Lambie for Daisy's collection. If she gets many more sheep, she will have to ask for honorary sheepdog membership.
Thanks boys, I love it.

We are going on a road trip tomorrow with Mommy.
She says we are going somewhere called Kentucky. Tucker went there once when he was a puppy and had a good time. The kitties are staying home with Daddy, nyah, nyah. Mommy hasn't bought us a laptop yet, so we probably won't be blogging much, but we will share our adventures when we get home next week. Happy Memorial Day to everyone.
